Dec 2016 has been the lowest point of the year for me for both professional and personal reasons but the one that really made me angry and write this outlet is the way women are treated in India, a so called progressives society.
I had a friend who was in an abusive relationship but about 15 days back I was in Bangalore to step when things had escalated. She took a small break and went to her parents place to Goa to recuperate but the abusive boyfriend found his way to her hometown and intimidated her with bodily harm. Again thankfully some people who were around to avoid something that would turn nasty but then it got me thinking.
I was born to a vet strong women who got things done from three men just by maintaining her silence, this is can be seen from the photograph sitting on my desk. She always taught me right from wrong but the best thing she instilled me was the fact that women may appear the weaker of the two sexes but they are definitely more stronger. This can be seen from the fact that they give birth but in a very patriarchal society like India it seems the opposite.
Few incidents in the last 24 hours which made me feel ashamed to be born a man - a so called acquaintance make light of rape via whatsapp and then posting it on twitter, a cricketer putting up a pretty picture of his family which attracts more comments for the way his wife is dressed because she belongs to a particular community, a friend who refused to stand up to his boss for sexists comments made against his friend.
For all of the above and for all those incidents where men have proved their superiority against women in India I apologise.
Please forgive the incoherence but please take the anger and stand up for every girl against any for of abuse for she is a mother, a sister, a daughter, a wife to someone
